CoreFirst selected KBS Constructors using a qualification based selection process. For more than twenty years, KBS has been building high quality projects with beautiful interiors. We specialize in doing work in occupied spaces.  This work we refer to as Critical Environment ConstructionTM and our expertise in this kind of work makes us particularly qualified to execute such projects under difficult conditions.  Our customer asked us to complete this project within a six-month window and we met their expectations because even though it was very tight schedule, it was what we had agreed to do. The building was opened on time and CoreFirst begin service to customers in North Topeka on schedule.

Charles Curtis Office Building

The Charles Curtis Office Building was built by the joint venture KBS/Flintco in the shadow of the Kansas State Capitol Building, This building is one of our finest work products and KBS craftsmen did much of the work.

The facility was built using a “fast track” construction method. This method of project delivery allows for work on the project to begin before all drawings are completed resulting in shorter construction schedules.

The Owner, Architect and Contractor worked as a team to produce The Charles Curtis State Office Building, already considered by many to be a valued Topeka landmark.

Cyrus K. Holliday Building

The Cyrus K. Holliday Building was a renovation of an existing medical office building to serve as office space for the City of Topeka. When a decision was made by City engineers to purchase the old EBA medical office building near City Hall and renovate it to replace leased office space, little time remained on their building lease.

KBS was selected though a performance based selection process and immediately began working with the owner and architect team already in place. Initial design was coming in over budget, so the team worked diligently, under an extremely compressed schedule, to solve the budget problems.

This team building approach resulted in maximized value for The City and the project was completed on time and within budget.

Kansas Trial Lawyers Association

When the Kansas Trial Lawyers Association purchased historic Fire Station No. 2, they turned to KBS Constructors, Inc. to handle the renovation of their space. GLPM Architects, KBS, and the client set about developing the space and creating a budget.

Working with representatives of the Kansas State Historical Society, the team produced an award winning renovation. The engine egress doors were replaced with panels to look like the original swinging style doors. Windows were restored or replaced with the original style divided light windows. Interior glazed brick was retained as the part of the interior finishes whenever possible. The resulting office space is modern yet visually pleasing while retaining the historic character of the old fire station.

BNSF Railway

BNSF Railway selected our team to construct their new locomotive load testing facility. This building was a Butler pre-engineered building designed to allow locomotives on tracks to enter the building for inspection. The design includes an office space, a meeting room, restroom / lockers as well as a bay for a future paint booth.

There are inspection pits under the tracks designed to allow employees to move beneath the engines to conduct their inspections. The team combined a standard pre-engineered structure with a custom designed concrete floor to produce outstanding value for this customer.
