Managing Your Project During Construction
When project construction actually begins, all project related communication, activity and coordination will be managed by some form of supervisor assigned to the project. The role of the supervisor is to work with all parties to deliver the project on time, at or under budget, and to the owners expected standard of quality scope and function
Typically, the General Contractor will provide an experienced Superintendent for the project. Depending upon the project’s scope, the owner may select a separate Owner’s Representative or ask the Design firm to provide a person to supervise the project.
Responsibilities of the project’s supervisor include:
- Administration
- Maintenance of construction related documents
- Coordination and oversight of all sub-constracors
- Contract adherence and General Conditions Items
- Processing and approval of Shop Drawings and Samples
- Managing and monitoring the Construction Schedule
- Monitoring the Construction Budget
- Review of Trade Contractors’ Work and Safety
- Project Close-out at completion
